Personally I find Semla really unappetizing and rarely can I eat more than about a half before I feel done with it. Other than that its fun to have a sort of national dish/tradition thing going :)

I tried this on my trip to Rome for the first time. I only got it because it was the cheapest option and I was on a budget. It looked very basic, so I was kind of disappointed. But I had that first taste I was immediately sold on this dish. I had to make it back home. I also added some dry chili flakes for spice and it tastes great too.

Ok, I don't want to be "that" guy but when you place the avocado half in the palm of your hand and then wack the pit with a knife... if you miss, you're going to seriously cut your hand. So place the avocado half on top of a towel on the counter and THEN wack the pit . Much safer all around.

Every time I've tried Baklava it's been a gooey, overly sweet, sticky, mess. This one looks good. Not too much honey and you don't have sticky stuff dripping down. I think I would like this and wouldn't have to figure out a way to ditch it without the host seeing. :)

Have eaten shrimp dishes all around the world and it's just stupid to leave the shells on. Leaving the shells on also leaves the gastric tract in place. Why would you want all of the seasonings pulled off??? Some knuckleheads actually eat the shells!!!

My trick is to put all the patties on a baking sheet under the broiler for a few minutes on each side. To make a crust and then simmer in the gravy while prepping my sides. One side of potatoes and a sliced pear sprinkled with grated sharp cheddar for a salad

I made no churn ice cream once and I hated the greasy mouthfeel. It's like eating globs of fat. Idk if it's supposed to be like that or if I overwhipped the heavy cream. Either way I'm not trying it again. But this recipe looks fantastic and I love carrot cake so I might adapt it to make a real churned ice cream. Thank you, chef John.
